About Matthew Scalese, DPT, certMDT, OCS

Matt Scalese is a doctor of physical therapy (DPT), specializing in rehabilitation of spine, sport, and orthopedic injuries since 1998. He received his Master's in Physical Therapy from the University of Scranton and later attained doctoral status in Physical Therapy from Temple University. He is a spine rehab specialist (cert MDT) credentialed by the prestigious McKenzie Institute. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and is credentialed by the APTA as an orthopedic certified specialist (OCS).

In fact, Matt is the only physical therapist in Northeastern Pennsylvania to hold his doctorate in Physical Therapy, OCS certification and the McKenzie Spine Rehabilitation certification. Additionally, he is an adjunct faculty member for the Physical Therapy Assistant program at Johnson College. Matt has also served as a program exercise advisor and consultant for various high school sports programs such as North Pocono Baseball, Scranton Prep, Abington, and University of Scranton cross-country.

Matt is a sport enthusiast that has pursued many athletic challenges over the past few decades. He excelled in collegiate baseball, completed 25 marathons, and has done extensive weight training with more recent concentrations on core training and kettlebell utilization. He has also enjoyed being a coach for his 3 children in softball, baseball, and soccer.
