As part of our multidisciplinary approach at NERA, NE Rehabilitation Chiropractic Center emphasizes nutrition and exercise programs, wellness and lifestyle modifications that promote physical and mental health.
Although there are some specific conditions that cannot be treated by a chiropractor, the therapies used are inherently safe when performed by a licensed professional. Chiropractic care effectively treats acute and chronic pain but also is used as preventative or supportive treatment to help avoid painful episodes before they occur and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
- Spinal Manipulation: The most common therapeutic procedure performed by chiropractors is known as spinal manipulation. The purpose of joint manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become restricted as a result of injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as motor vehicle accidents, work related injuries or through repetitive stresses. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function. Adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal. Chiropractic adjustment rarely causes discomfort. However, patients may sometimes experience mild soreness or aching following treatment (as with some forms of exercise) that usually resolves within 12 to 48 hours.
- Flexion Distraction: Flexion distraction is another form of manipulation that uses a specific table to create spinal distraction (separation of the vertebrae). Based on your condition, this technique can be used to successfully treat and improve your symptoms.
Flexion Distraction is good for: Failed back surgery, disc herniations, Sciatica issues and many more.
- Massage Therapy: Our massage therapists are trained in relaxation techniques as well as deep muscle massage. They work in conjunction with the doctors to provide the best possible results. The benefits of massage are numerous from increasing joint range of motion to pain relief.
Our Doctors of Chiropractic assess patients through clinical examination, laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging and other diagnostic interventions to determine when chiropractic treatment is appropriate or when it is not appropriate. Our team will readily refer patients to the appropriate health care provider when chiropractic care is not suitable for the patient’s condition, or the condition warrants co-management in conjunction with other members of our health care team.
