Dr. Paul Horchos Earns Subspecialty in Brain Injury Medicine

Congratulations to Dr. Paul Horchos on earning his sub-specialty board certification in Brain Injury Medicine. Dr. Horchos is one of 287 physicians throughout the country and one of only 15 physicians throughout the state of Pennsylvania to obtain this prestigious board certification. He is the only board certified Brain Injury Medicine physician in the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre area.

Dr. Horchos is also trained and certified as an evaluator utilizing Immediate Post-concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing (ImPACT).  ImPACT evaluations are utilized to evaluate patients following a concussion.  This evaluation is also used to establish a pre-concussion baseline in athletes and is a requirement in the state of Pennsylvania for athletes participating in high-impact sports.  ImPACT evaluations assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of concussions for both children and adults with mild traumatic brain injuries.

As a board certified physician in physical medicine and rehabilitation, having a subspecialty in brain injury medicine, Dr. Horchos has built his reputation as an expert in both concussions and traumatic brain injuries (TBI).  Dr. Horchos has presented at various local, regional, and state conferences including the Annual Northeastern Rehabilitation Symposium, Tort Talk, Pennsylvania Defense Institute, and the Pennsylvania Bureau of Workers Compensation.  In addition, he is a featured speaker on concussions at a conference offering continuing medical education credits to physicians.
