INDEPENDENT MEDICAL EVALUATIONS (IME)  &

IMPAIRMENT RATING EXAMINATIONS (IRE)

Northeastern Rehabilitation Associates, P.C., is actively involved with the performance of Independent Medical Evaluations. There is no limitation with regards to the referral source of these Independent Medical Evaluations. These examinations take approximately 90-120 minutes of the examinee’s time, as they are quite comprehensive. The Independent Medical Evaluations involve a thorough history, comprehensive physical examination, and extensive review of medical records and diagnostic imaging studies when available. The Independent Medical Evaluation also utilizes aspects of the Blankenship Behavioral Profile. The Independent Medical Evaluation can currently be scheduled at one of the following locations: Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, East Stroudsburg, Hazleton, Williamsport, Shoemakersville, Bethlehem, Glenside, Quakertown, Allentown, Harrisburg, State College, Havertown, Lancaster, Towanda and Exton (Tunkhannock & Honesdale upon request). A referral source can expect to receive an Independent Medical Evaluation report and a written Summary of Findings after the examination. Common issues addressed in the Independent Medical Evaluation are diagnosis, prognosis, causation, determination of maximum medical improvement, comments and/or recommendations regarding diagnostic testing, therapeutic intervention and physical capabilities. It should be noted that these Independent Medical Evaluations are performed with the highest degree of expertise and the physicians performing these Independent Medical Evaluations are all Board Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners and/or the American Academy of Disability Evaluation Physicians.

Impairment Rating Evaluations can also be performed by the physicians of Northeastern Rehabilitation Associates, P.C. As with Independent Medical Evaluations, the physicians performing these examinations are Board Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners to have expertise with regards to the performance of these types of examinations. The IRE is an examination performed in accordance with the Fifth Edition of the AMA Guides to Rating Impairment, the goal of which is to provide a percentage of whole person impairment. These IREs can be performed at any of the Northeastern Rehabilitation Associates, P.C. locations as stated above.
